Project 1a & 1b: Low Energy Building Analysis & Energy Efficient Green Building Site Visit/Interview/Podcast
Assignments 1A and 1B require students, in groups of six, to explore and analyse energy-efficient buildings through precedent studies and site investigations. Assignment 1A focuses on identifying and evaluating sustainable strategies such as building envelopes, lighting systems, HVAC systems, waste management, and renewable energy approaches, while assessing their impact on reducing energy consumption and improving building performance. Assignment 1B extends this understanding through a site visit to a publicly accessible green building, where students creatively present the building’s sustainable features through an influencer-style vlog, interview, or podcast. The outcomes aim to communicate energy-efficient design concepts in an informative and engaging format.

Project 2 :A walkthrough Energy Audit E-Report
Assignment 2A requires students to conduct an individual walkthrough energy audit on a selected site or building and develop an Energy Audit E-Report. The report involves analysing the existing building performance and proposing improvement strategies related to areas such as lighting, HVAC systems, waste management, renewable materials, and building management systems. Students are required to evaluate aspects including climate-based façade analysis, energy load and consumption patterns, energy-saving potential, energy management, renewable strategies, and compliance with MS1525 standards. The findings are presented through an A3 digital report format.
