PROJECT 1C
RECLAIMED ARCHITECTURE: < A DANCE ANNEXE >

In this assignment, students must design a Dance House, an annex to Encore Melaka Theatre, to preserve and promote Malacca's local dance culture. The design should be a standalone, monolithic two-storey building (350–450 sqm) located on one of two proposed sites, either extending into the sea (Strait-Site) or adjacent to the canal (Park-Site). The proposal must incorporate spaces for cultural dance programs and public engagement while reflecting the site’s context and Malacca's cultural identity. Designs should adhere to universal design principles, emphasizing accessibility, functionality, and harmony with the surrounding environment.
INTERIM 1

Students are required to develop and present a Formal & Spatial Manuscript that demonstrates the evolution of their conceptual ideas into formal and spatial strategies, architectural language, and intended outcomes. This should be conveyed through massing models, diagrammatic, and visual representations. The deliverables include a 1:100 scale model, a mix-media A2 portrait board, and a clear narrative showcasing the calibration process of form and space-making.
INTERIM 2

In the Butter Paper Session, students must showcase their design intention and process through a schematic site plan, floor plans, one contextual section, one contextual elevation with material intentions, and perspective montages illustrating poetic and experiential spaces. They should also present study/mock-up models and demonstrate structural and passive design strategies, providing a comprehensive overview of their architectural proposal.

Reflection
During this project, I learned that I should explore and experience more architecture to expand my knowledge. I am proud and happy with my outcome since this is my first time doing digital work flow.
